Vico pace numero zero is a project of sonic exploration that investigates the sonic environment of one specific building located in Vicolo della Pace in Napoli.
In this street, the public and the private sphere pour into each other, resulting in a complex sonic ecosystem that describes complex dynamics of cohabitation in which people, music, engines and animals define the space and its identity. In this project we follow a vector that climbs up the building describing the process of rarefaction and the different cultural, social and class stratifications that can be found in a building of one of the oldest neighborhoods of Napoli.
The project is organized in a series of short audio-visual documents that crystalize different life moments experienced in the building and from the building.
The first chapter, called sera, represents the end of our journey. The roof of the building provides a privileged listening point from which we can observe the unfolding of human activities at dusk time. For this project we have chosen to use binaural recordings to provide an immersive listening experience that returns a tridimensional perception of space and embeds the listener in the sonic environment.
