Mediterranean Futures Napoli x Stegi Radio

This mixtape is a collection of field recordings and music related to the Neapolitan area in different ways.
“Scuscenate” in Neapolitan means unmade, and quite messy.
The sounds are threads of the urban weave of the city. I followed some of them, indulged in knots and cut ends: they might suggest something, to then make a mockery out of it; they might play on the line between grotesque and real; they are seducing but rotting; they are rough and fragile at the same time.

From touristification to the revival/resistance of the popular music, from the hectic shopping to racialized soundscapes of the more popular areas, with the musical intervention of different genres from Antonio Raia, Claudio Panariello, La Bestia Carenne, J Lord, Speranza, and Rocco Gitano, this is just another tale about Naples, slowly harsh.
The podcast was hosted within Mediterranean Futures Napoli, curated by Giovanni Napolano.
