Dragonara is a piece from an upcoming acousmatic album that blends elements of concrete music, ambient, and drone. The project began as a creative game, interpreting a dream visually transposed by artist Iman Mahdy, whose artwork served as a musical score. The composition uses diverse field recordings—captured with binaural, contact mics, geophones, and re-amping—and transforms them using spectromorphological techniques. Each sound is treated as an organic entity, evolving and interacting within an imagined ecosystem, drawing inspiration from eco-acoustic composition. The title refers to a partially submerged tuff cave in Naples, the artist’s hometown. “Dragonara” was selected by ACSM116 to be performed at the Contemporary Computer Music Concert 2024 in Tokyo.
